3. What is PDPA?
Introduction to Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer (PDPA) Measurement Principle Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer (PDPA), as the name suggests, uses the Doppler effect to measure the relevant characteristics of moving particles. It is developed from the Laser Doppler Velocimeter (LDV) and has a history of nearly 20 years. The basic optical principle based on phase Doppler particle analyzer is Lorenz Mie scattering theory, which generally includes several parts such as laser, incident optical unit, receiving optical unit, signal processor, and data processing system. Just like the Doppler effect of sound waves, the relative motion between a light source and an object also exhibits the Doppler effect. In the phase Doppler particle analyzer, velocity information is obtained by relying on the frequency difference between the scattered light of moving particles and the irradiation light, while the particle size is determined by analyzing the phase shift generated by the reflected or refracted scattered light of spherical particles passing through the laser measurement body. Instrument configuration: This instrument is a two-dimensional phase Doppler particle analyzer produced by Aerometrics in the United States. It is equipped with a 320MW argon ion air-cooled laser, a laser coupler (Fiber Driver), an RSA signal processor (Real Time Signal Analyzer), a data processing system, and laser transmitters and receivers. The 10m long laser transmission fiber and domestically produced 3D coordinate frame make the instrument highly adaptable to different experimental models. In general, its speed measurement range is -90~283m/s, and the measurable particle size range is 0.5~90~0.8m. This range can also be expanded by replacing the emission lens. Applications and Achievements Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer was initially used to measure the spray flow, and then gradually expanded to the study of jet flame and two-phase turbulence. Recently, it has been better applied in the study of gas-solid fluid
