1. What is PTS method? The Pre determined Time Standards (PTS) method is a commonly used method in job determination. This method goes one step further than the standard element method, as it decomposes the actions that make up the work unit into several basic actions, observes these basic actions in detail, and then creates a standard timetable for the basic actions. When determining the actual working time, simply decompose the work task into these basic actions, find the standard time of each basic action from the standard timetable of the basic actions, add them together to obtain the normal working time, then add the slack time, add them together to obtain the normal working time, and then add the slack time to obtain the standard working time. There are several types of PTS methods, which vary depending on the classification of basic actions and the use of different time units. The most widely used method is the MTM method (Methods of Time Measurement). In the MTM method, there are also several basic action standard data, and here we introduce the most accurate one: MTM-1. In this method, the basic actions are classified into the 8 types shown in Table 1: MM-1s basic action classification. The standard time for these basic actions is based on the micro action research method, which observes the actions of a sample person in various jobs in detail and considers the coefficient of variation of different jobs. Table 2 below shows the standard time for one of the movements, "Move," produced by the MTM Standards Research Association in the United States. The Time Measurement Unit (TMU) used here is TMU, where 1TMU equals 0.0006min and 1 minute equals 1667TMU. The standard time in this table takes into account three

factors: moving weight, moving distance, and moving situation. Each factor is different, and the required standard time is also different. For example, there is an action that requires moving an 18 pound object 20 inches with both hands to a precise position, without any movement of the hands before the action occurs. In order to obtain the standard time for this action, the first step is to determine which situation the action belongs to based on the description of the movement. From the description of the three situations in the table, it can be seen that it belongs to C. Then, based on the intersection of the 20 inch row and column C with a movement distance of 20 inches, the time required to find this action is 22.1 TMU. Now, further consideration is needed and some adjustments should be made to the time just found based on the weight. Because the action involves moving an object weighing 18 pounds with both hands, each hand weighing 9 pounds, and the weight allowed in the table is between 7.5 and 12.5, the dynamic factor is 1.11 and the static constant (TMU) is 3.9. The standard time for this action can be calculated as follows: TMU table value x dynamic factor static constant=22.1 x 1.11+3.9=28TMU. Each basic action has a table like this. These standard data have been determined through rigorous testing and repeated experiments, and their scientific and rigorous nature is high. Moreover, there are specialized organizations that have developed such data. The data in Table 2 above was prepared by the MTM Association for Standard and Research in the United States. The steps of using PTS method to establish work standards are as follows: 1. Break down the work or work unit into basic actions;
